There is something inherently wrong with being wrapped up in a blanket camping out inside while its nearly 90 degrees outside. I spent all day yesterday doing just fine. Felt great!

Then I woke up this morning, completely congested. I couldn't breathe much at all. Though I did go to work, I only made it halfway through the day. Now I've spent half a day doing absolutely nothing.

I swear to god this better pass before my son is born. I will not be utterly sick with a newborn in the house. For that matter, I better not get my pregnant wife sick.

Can I just say... I love that every time I go for a bike ride at Indian Springs, I get a wildlife tour. You just can't miss it.

Basically every time I head out, I see at least a few small rabbits. Last week I ended up within eight feet of a grazing deer. She was just sitting at the side of the trail munching away.

Today I got the full opera. As I drive in, a fairly good sized deer crossed the road. On my way down the trail, more bunnies. Then after about five and a half miles, three full size turkeys crossed the trail with at least ten to fifteen babies, not 10 feet ahead of me. The little ones were no larger than a good sized cantaloupe. That was something. I've never been that close to such a large group turkeys, and definitely not such young ones.

Really truly amazing.

Oh yeah, and on my way back up the trail... another deer.

I love it.

Can I please have just one weekend where I don't have some disaster to avert? Yesterday, while I had my buddy Pooch over for a leisurely afternoon of hanging out, I went into the basement to check on the laundry. What I found was a pool of water around the water heater.

Bloody marvelous.

So after several hours and multiple trips to Home Depot, the job was finished and we had hot water again. I won't go into detail here, but needless to say it was a rough afternoon and required an update to my rules. Thank the heavens I had a friend over, who was willing to help me out in my afternoon of need.

I hope to god that today will be a little more quiet.

Can't I get a break? I walked out to my truck this morning in an effort to go to work, only to find that my Garmin Nuvi had been stolen out of my truck. At least one minor grace is the fact that no damage was done to my truck. Had that happened, I probably would have freaked.

I can deal with a missing GPS unit. That doesn't bother my too badly. What bothers me more is the invasion of privacy. I don't like the fact that someone was that close to my house... in my driveway... in my vehicle. My borders have been violated.

Not happy.

At least I registered the unit with Garmin, so I was able to retrieve my serial number. Now if it would only turn up at a pawn shop...

Can it be? Am I finally getting my morning routine together? Lately it has seemed that no matter what I do, I'm leaving the house late in my quest to get to work. With all our wonderful South-east Michigan construction, I just can't win.

Thanks to sites like lifehacker.com and unclutterer.com, in addition to mobile apps like Astrid, I think I'm starting to get a bit more organized. Only took 30 years. At least now I'm setting reminders to myself to prepare my morning coffee the evening before.

Hopefully it will stick.
